We are pleased to announce the official launch of Special Piping Materials’ new office in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
It is our seventh division worldwide and is in a great location that will cater to new and developing markets in South America.
Special Piping Materials has had a presence in Brazil for the past five years through a very trusted network of agents and partners, and our reputation for excellence has grown steadily.
The new office will mainly be focusing on projects in Brazil, but significant developments in the oil and gas markets in Colombia, Peru, Venezuela and Argentina also offer great opportunities to us.
The new General Manager for Brazil is Antonio Marques who has a decade of experience in the oil and gas industry. He is a qualified mechanical engineer and holds an MBA in Business Administration from one of the most well-recognised universities in South America – The COPPEAD Graduate School of Business.
Antonio will be working hard to strengthen our relationships in the area and establish a well-stocked warehouse, while ensuring that the Brazilian division of the company adheres to the same standards of quality and customer service that Special Piping Materials is renowned for.
His stock of pipes, fittings and flanges is already growing, meaning that they are able to cater for projects that need fast delivery times, as well long-term projects that require rare, more exotic alloys.
Les Buckley, Founder and Group Managing Director of Special Piping Materials, said: “Special Piping Materials has gone from strength-to-strength in recent years and the launch of our seventh company demonstrates just how far we’ve come.
“We have experienced a lot of demand for our products in South America and our involvement in some major projects proves that the conditions were right for the launch of a permanent office in the area.”
Speaking about his appointment, Antonio Marques said: “The number of new projects being announced in South America means that it is a really exciting time to be launching a new office in the region. We have already got some fantastic contacts in Brazil and I am confident that I can develop these further while also extending our reach across the whole continent.”
Brazil is home to the world’s 10th largest petroleum reserves. More than 94% of the country’s oil reserves are located in offshore basins where Special Piping Materials’ specialist products are in high demand. The future for the market in Brazil is looking bright due to increasing investment in FLNG plans and the government’s aims for the country to be the fifth largest producer of oil by 2020.
Brazil is one of the most resource-rich countries in the world with a diversified industry and thriving services sector. It is also a member if the South American Common Market (Mercosul) and is connected to all countries in South America by free trade agreements.
