Português do BrasilSpecial Piping Materials’ Singapore office is nearly 20 years old, having been established in 2004.
The team has a 30,000 sq. ft warehouse and works with clients across Asia where it is known as one of the foremost distributors of duplex, super duplex, nickel alloys and other exotic piping materials in South East Asia.
Steve Chee is the General Manager of Special Piping Materials in Singapore and he has a very experienced and knowledgeable team who support him.
Working in an essential role in the warehouse is Warehouse Storeman Ivan Teo Chee Siang who has been with SPM since 2019. He works hard to ensure customer orders are packed and shipped efficiently.

- How long have you worked with SPM
I have worked with SPM for 3 years, I joined the team in October 2019.
- Can you give us an overview of your career so far?
I was working in the same line as a storeman for another company when I saw the opportunity to move to Special Piping Materials and was lucky enough to secure the role.
- What’s your favourite (and least favourite) day-to-day task?
My favourite day-to-day task is packing customer orders, my least favourite task is putting back items to stock when customers cancel or change items!
- What made you want to work for SPM?
It’s a good working environment with supportive colleagues who guide me and help each other out every day.
- What is your focus at the moment in your role?
To make no mistakes and be as efficient as possible when we are preparing each order.
- What does a typical ‘day in the office’ look like?
Double-checking on customers’ items, re-arranging stock and tidying up the warehouse – it’s a busy place to be!
- What do you think the rest of 2023 will bring to the piping world?
Hopefully more projects and orders for Special Piping Materials!
- What keeps you motivated at work each day? And how do you motivate your team?
Great colleagues! We are always talking to each other and trying to help each other.
- How do you relax after a hard day’s work in the office?
I like to go fishing with my friends!
- If you had to choose another office around the world to work in, which would it be and why?
I would like to choose the SPM office in Texas, I would like to experience the weather in the USA and explore new places too.
