A SPECIAL PIPING MATERIALS INTERVIEW | BRITTANY FROM TEXAS

At Special Piping Materials (SPM), our teams across the world work collaboratively to deliver high-quality piping solutions to clients in the energy, mining, and industrial sectors. Our Texas office plays a crucial role in supporting projects across North America, focusing on fast turnaround times, dependable service, and expert technical guidance.

We recently caught up with Brittany, the Sales Coordinator for our Houston team, to learn more about her career journey, what drives her each day, and her insights on the evolving piping industry.

“Brittany is a fantastic part of our Texas team. Her professionalism, enthusiasm, and dedication to customer service truly reflect what SPM stands for.”

A SPECIAL PIPING MATERIALS INTERVIEW | BRITTANY FROM TEXAS

  1. How long have you worked with SPM?

I began my role at SPM at the beginning of 2022 and have been with the company going on four years.

  1. What role are you currently in?

I am currently a Sales Coordinator for SPM Houston.

  1. Can you give us an overview of your career so far?

Before joining SPM, I worked in the logistics industry for 12 years. However, I had always been interested in the PVF industry, so when the opportunity arose to make a career change, I took it.
I started at SPM in 2022 as an Expediter. Thanks to my background in coordination and supply chain management, the transition was smooth. A little over a year ago, I moved into the Sales Coordinator role, where I manage international stock shipments, assist the sales team as needed, and continue to support larger project jobs.

  1. What’s your favourite (and least favourite) day-to-day task?

What I enjoy most is working directly with customers to understand their needs and provide effective solutions. Delivering excellent customer service is a top priority for me and for SPM.
The least enjoyable part of my role is the repetitive administrative paperwork. While I know it’s essential for keeping everything organised and running efficiently, it’s not the most rewarding task!

  1. What made you want to work for SPM?

I was drawn to SPM because of its close-knit, supportive team atmosphere, which offers great opportunities for learning and hands-on experience. Over the past few years, I’ve learned so much and it’s been exciting to be part of a team that continues to grow.

  1. What is your current focus in your role?

Right now, I’m focused on building strong, long-term relationships with our customers. I’m also passionate about increasing SPM’s presence and reputation within the PVF industry — highlighting our strengths, expanding our network, and showing clients the real value we can deliver.

  1. What are the big piping trends at the moment in Texas and North America?

In the Texas Gulf region, the major trends are being driven by increasing production from the Permian Basin and the rise in LNG exports. To meet these demands, the industry is investing heavily in new pipelines, modular builds, improved materials, and digital tools to streamline operations.

  1. What are the current priorities for the Texas SPM team?

Our top priorities are delivering excellent customer service and ensuring fast, reliable turnaround times on every order.

  1. What do you think the future holds for the piping world?

The piping industry in the Gulf Texas area is set to keep growing, particularly as demand for natural gas and LNG continues to rise. There’s also increasing attention on sustainability and reducing emissions, so I think we’ll see more development in hydrogen and carbon capture projects in the coming years.
Right now, a lot of focus is on building new pipelines to efficiently transport gas to industrial sites and export terminals, as well as upgrading existing infrastructure. It’s an exciting time because the industry is evolving to meet new energy challenges and opportunities.

  1. What does a typical day in the office look like for you?

My day usually starts with reviewing emails and setting priorities to make sure everything stays organised. I follow up on incoming stock, check statuses at the mills, and track shipments currently in transit. The rest of my day is spent working closely with clients — responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring they receive the best possible support.

  1. What keeps you motivated at work each day?

The opportunity for continuous learning and development keeps me motivated. I enjoy being part of an industry that’s always changing and challenges me to grow.

  1. How do you relax after a hard day’s work?

I love spending time outdoors — going on evening walks, travelling, spending time with friends and family, and taking the boat out on the lake whenever I can.

  1. If you could choose another SPM office around the world to work in, which would it be and why?

Australia — for the sunshine and beautiful beaches!
